Interesting E-mail Swap from Swap-bot

I just sent this out to my partners and really liked the questions and answers, so I decided to repost here.  More interesting things to come later. :D

1.       What state and/or country do you reside in? I currently live in Nashville, TN.  I’ve been here since 2005 and I really like the area.
2.       Do you know your ancestry? What nationalities are you? I’m a true Melting Pot.  I’m 25% Polish, 25% German, 12.5% Irish, 12.5% English, 12.5% Czechosolvakian and 12.5% Hungarian.  I used to think that the German and Irish percentages were flipped, but my mom set me straight on it.  But even with all three of those, I really do know how to hold my liquor.  And I’m a stereotypical Pole, in that I have moments of complete and utter air-headedness.
3.       What would I find in your refrigerator right now? Too much stuff that probably needs to be thrown away.  My husband is the cook in the family, so I leave cleaning out the fridge to him.  I know it hasn’t happened in awahile.
4.       If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be? ”Just because someone is different doesn’t mean that they are bad.  Different is just that… different.  And diversity is one of the things that make us strong.”
5.       If you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see and why? Green.  There are so many shades of green that can be seen.  And it’s my favorite color.  (Of course, if I could only see green, black and white, I’d probably get sick of it!)
6.       What do you think is your biggest fault? I’m too negative regarding myself.  I suffer from depression and as such, I have a tendency to think the worst of what I do and be harder on myself than I would be on anyone else in the same situation.
7.       What do you think is the perfect age to be, and why? I don’t think there’s any such thing as a perfect age.  They all have so many wonderful things that happen.  When you’re really little, around 2 or so, you’re learning so much about the world.  When you’re a little kid, around 4 or 5, you’re starting to make more friends and learn more than just what Mommy and Daddy say.  The older you get the more you learn and the more experience.  When you’re in your 20’s and 30’s, you start to experience what love really can be and, maybe, what it means to have your heart outside your body in the form of your children.  You get to watch them grow and learn, make mistakes that you made and some you never considered.  You get to grow older with the one that you love and continue to learn new things.  I’ve loved something about every age I’ve been and am looking forward to the ones that have yet to be.
8.       What is the scariest experience you've ever had? There are two and I can’t say which was honestly scarier.  The first was on 9/11.  I was in NYC, working that day.  I remember standing outside of Penn Station with hundreds of other people, listening to an unusual quiet in the city that never sleeps.  A jet flew overhead and everyone looked up in fear.  We didn’t know what was happening, just rumors at that point, and we didn’t know what might happen.  I wanted to get home.  Or get somewhere far away.  It was so scary.
The second was when I was pregnant with my first child.  He’d been an active little one in my belly then one day, he wasn’t moving much.  I called my doctor, nervous, and his nurse suggested that I drink something sugary and then count the movements within an hour.  She said she’d call me to see how things were going.  So I went out to buy a soda (not having anything like that in the house) and picked up my usual soda.  And there movement didn’t increase.  Maybe 3 movements within a two hour period.  I was petrified.  I was convinced that something was wrong with him and called my husband, begging him to come home and get me to take me to the imaging place.  He rushed home and rushed me to the doctor.  We were seen as soon as we got there.  Teddy was fine.  There was just a lot of amniotic fluid – no worries.  When we got back to the van, Rich saw the soda that I’d picked up – Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper.  I was so used to buying diet soda that I never thought about the fact that I was buying something without sugar to make the baby hyper.
9.       What is the most beautiful image, place, thing you have ever seen? Why? Mallory Square in Key West.  I was there about 15 years ago and got to see the sunset.  There was a juggler working the square and a ton of people waiting to watch the sun go down.  It was truly the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen in my life.  The sun lit the sky in the most beautiful reds, golds and oranges I’ve ever seen.  Sailboats were sailing past, backlit by the sun.  Whenever I need a calm place to be, that’s where my mind goes.
10.   If you could confront anyone from your past, who would it be and why? I don’t know if “confront” is the right word, because I don’t want to have anger involved, but I do have someone I would apologize to.  One of my exes, who had been one of my best friends before we started dating, saw me go nuts-o when we broke up.  He stopped talking to me after that and, 20 years later, still won’t acknowledge me.  I regret being so needy at the time because his friendship was more important to me than I would ever have guessed.  I want the chance to say I’m sorry and to let him know I’ve changed.  And I’d love the chance to begin a friendship anew and let him see the me that I am now.
11.   What is a word or phrase you use frequently and how did you pick it up? “Six ways to Sunday”.  When my mother was mad at me as a kid, she would say this (I think, anyway).  Now that I’m a parent myself, the phrase has come into my own vocabulary.  Sometimes, I’ll say something like, “If you don’t behave, I’ll spank you six ways to Sunday and twice on Thursday.”  The last part I’ve added myself.
12.   What’s something you know you do differently than most people? Tie my shoes.  Most people do the one loop and around way of tying their shoes.  I could NEVER learn that, no matter how hard I tried.  I have to use two loops and tie them together.  I’m letting my husband teach my boys how to tie their shoes when the time comes.  (Right now they both have Velcro!)
