The Reason for the Insanity

There are three people I talk about more than any others.

Rich or Rick (I slip back and forth between the two... it's an oddity) is the man crazy enough to marry me.  He's just my kind of geek and I count myself lucky every day.  He is the one that goes out, 5 days a week, to make the money that keeps us with all the things we want and need. He's got a fantastic sense of humor and loves the fact that, most of the time, I can see where he's going with a joke or a quote.  We really fit together pretty well.  Like me, he's a voracious reader. Like me, he's a role-playing gamer (pencil, paper and real live dice, though a good computer game now and then isn't a bad thing.)  I'm pretty sure he's where my sons get their sense of humor from.  He's the one that helps keep me sane in my insane world.

Tedd is my (almost) 15 year old.  He's learned the ways of geekdom well, following in his parents' footsetps.  He has been playing D&D with us for a couple of years and is getting ready to start up his own campaign for his friends in the near future.  He loves video games, YouTube, anime and mango, and making puns.  He's been doing a lot of walking lately, mainly to hit the pokestop at the Starbucks at the top of the hill.

This year, he's in a freshman at one of our local magnet schools.  The curriculum is a lot harder than it was at his previous schools, but he's up to the challenge.  Through school, he participates in chorus, singing tenor/bass.  It's been an interesting year, learning virtually.  It seems to work for him, though.  His biggest regret is the inability to have concerts with his choral group.  If he doesn't have electronics in his hands, it's often a book instead.  He truly is my mini-me.

Peter is 12 and a ball of goof.  He loves to tell jokes, watch funny YouTubers, and annoy his brother.  Of course, that's what little brothers are for, or so I've been told. He's in sixth grade this year.  He's had a more difficult time with virtual learning, but as we all work together, he's making it through.  He geeks along with the rest of us to D&D, board games, Pokemon,  Steven Universe, Marvel, DC and anything else we care to geek on.

He's also my alphabet soup child.  SPD, ADHD and high functioning autism are a part of our every day life.  Pete looks at and interacts with the world differently than most people.  Sometimes that takes the form of meltdowns from being over stimulated, sometimes it takes the form of following his own routine.  We all just work through it one day at a time.

So that's my family in a nutshell (which immediately brings to mind Austin Powers... but that's neither here nor there).  This blog is just my little corner of the world.  And I love being here.
