Working Wednesday - The Latest in my BuJo

I love my Bullet Journal.  I'm always trying to think of new ideas of things to put in it, always searching the web for new ideas.  So here's a look at a few of the latest pages that I created.  Please feel free to ask any questions about them that might catch your fancy.

One of the things I decided I needed to write out were the plans I had for different days of blogging.  If I have a plan for a different thing to write Monday through Friday, I'm hoping it will make it easier to actually keep up with a schedule.  It will also be a good thing to look back at in the future, especially if I make changes to the blog over the years.

Along with coming up with my blog writing themes, I also wanted to try to get focused with other parts of my life.  I also have a plans for cleaning a different room each day, rather than trying to focus on one room a week, or just catching wherever I could.  And since I'm trying to exercise every day - even if it's only 15 minutes of yoga - I'm trying to write those down as well.  It also gave me a bit of a chance to use some of the stickers that I'd purchased to help keep me motivated.

One of the big suggestions that I've seen are bucket list type things relating to an upcoming age.  Since I have about 2 1/2 years until I turn 50, I'm going to come up with 50 things to do before I turn 50.  I haven't come up with all 50 things yet - you'll see a lot of blanks on the page.  But even if I add just a little each week, I should have my list together and be able to work through my list.

I have a tendency to forget things that I'm looking forward to coming out.  I miss when books are being released, when movies are coming out, when TV shows are going to start back up.  So I thought that making a spread for the rest of the year will give me a place to mark them down and to check out as each month is coming up.  At the moment, I've got mostly books and movies.  I've gotten away from a lot of TV watching (I've become a big binger), but I am anxiously awaiting Leverage: Redemption next month.  Leverage is one of my favorite shows so I can't wait to see what happens here!

Daily Challenge - Day 7

Well, today's challenge was

Create a Template For Weekly Blog Posts

Well, I don't have it codified into the blog yet (I'm supposed to be spending this time cleaning instead of being online, but there are so many things I want to do and technically, it's the boys who are supposed to be cleaning, not me and.... never mind.  Excuses.  Just suffice it to say that it won't be happening today.)  I do have, in my head, the blog posts I'll be making daily.  A lot of them are memes I'm finding other places, but I did want to add in a little of my own as well.

Every day, I'll be doing my daily challenge post, with the link to all of them so anyone that wants to check out all of my challenges can.

On Sundays, I'll be posting along with the memes Sundays in my City  and, if it's still around, Sunday Scribblings.  I'll also post my own Sunday Support.  I'd like it to take off as a meme, but we'll see if anyone else agrees with that.  I want it to be a meme where people can write about something they're struggling with and, hopefully, get support from their readers.  I can always use support.

On Mondays, I'll be posting along with the memes Monday Quiz About Me, Monday Listicles and Music Moves Me Monday.

On Tuesday, I'll be posting along with the meme Tuesday Coffee Chat and my own Last Tuesday.  I'm going to use it as a place to post memories from my past that I want to remember and share.

On Wednesday, I'll be posting along with the memes Pour Your Heart Out, Wordless Wednesday (there are a couple I link up on, but don't have the links at hand at the moment) and Wednesday Hodgepodge.

On Friday, I'll be posting along with the memes Friday FragmentsFriendship Friday and Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun.

On Saturday, I'll be posting along with the memes Six Word Saturday and Saturday 9.

I have a lot of changes that I'd like to make to the blog itself, but I'm not 100% sure how to go about doing it.  I may make one of my challenges for the next week be something like "Take notes of things that you like on others blogs and that you'd like to incorporate into your own.  That way my ideas won't go flipping out of my head.

So.... not bad for this challenge.  Not bad at all.  Tomorrow's challenge is going to be a tough one for me because it's something I've never been good at - either doing or following.  Because tomorrow, I'm challenging myself to

Create a meal plan for the upcoming week.

Why I Started my Blog

and

Things I Can't Say

are asking the question: Why did you start your blog?

And you know me.  I like to talk about things and link up places and promote other great blogs.  And I like to write things that make me think a little.

This one is really making me think because I'm not sure why I started this blog.  It's not the first one I started. That was a blog about Teddy growing.  I dropped away from it, getting into LJ a bit more.  Then I started a blog for my 101 in 1001 goals.  I (far too often) start things that I don't finish.  And that's what happened there.  But Sanity's Overrated.... that's a bit more difficult.

A lot of it, I think, may have been because I had started drifting away from Livejournal and connecting more with people on Facebook.  But Facebook doesn't give me the opportunity to write the way that I want to.  I needed a place to write regularly.

Around the same time, there was a Blogger swap on Swap-Bot.  I thought it would be a good time to actually start this blog.  I didn't know what it was going to be.  I knew that I'd write, but what would I write about?  The boys and my life? Probably.  The book reviews?  I hadn't expected those.  My swap-bot stuff?  Not a bad idea, especially with Blogger swaps.  But what Sanity's Overrated would actually be... well, I think I'm still trying to figure that out.  Like myself, it continues to grow and change.

It's become a living thing, and that is something I'm grateful for.

*blink* *blink*

I just took a look at my GFC and noticed that I am 1 person away from having 100 followers.  How did this happen?  It kinda makes me feel good, knowing that this many people have thought that my blog is worth following.

Thank you.

Trial and Error Tuesday

Things have changed a bit in recent months, so I've decided that I need to keep my blog changing with it.  Which means that a couple of my topics (which I'm trying to get back on track for writing about) aren't quite cutting it any more. Writing out my to do list here every Tuesday seems kind of boring.  Yes, it helps me keep on track and gives me a sense of accomplishment from week to week, but it's got to be boring for the rest of you.  So Tuesdays will now be changed to Trial and Error Tuesdays.  Sometimes I'll post about something I've tried over the last week, others it may be about something I'm planning on trying over the next week, with eventual updates.  My trial and error for this week (still being Tuesday) will be Trial and Error Tuesdays.  I'm not sure if I'll have something to write about weekly.  It may fizzle not long after it gets started.  But it's going to be one of my things to try out over the upcoming weeks.  I've got another few things I'm going to try to do this week, but a little more about that in a little bit.

The other weekly topic change will be on Saturdays.   I'm not swapping much (if at all) lately, so Swap-Bot Saturdays has kind of outlived it's usefulness.  Instead, I'm going to do something that will hopefully get a few more people involved.  It's going to be sharing Saturday.  Each Saturday, I'm going to post a brief topic for people to write posts about, sharing a little more of themselves with their readers.  It will be a Blog Hop of sorts, so I'll have a linky up for a few days for people to link back to their posts and (hopefully) get a chance to meet some new and interesting bloggers.  That's my hope, anyway.  If I have the forethought, I'll post the topic at the end of my Feel Good Friday post.  Wish me luck with that.

Now, on to the other trial and errors for the week.  First will be a continuation of some changes to my blog.  I want to fix my buttons, maybe tidy up my blog roll a bit - get rid of some that I'm not reading as much and add others that I've found recently. I want to add an "About Me" page (which could end up being really interesting, knowing my style of writing) and maybe a few other pages to help navigate around my blog.  Regarding any and all of this, please feel free to give me some suggestions.  What would you like to see on my  About Me page? What other pages would you like to see me add?  Suggestions on buttons?

The other is one that I'm thinking of going through with tomorrow and comes back to my post the other day about needing a change.  I got a coupon for $10 off a color at Super Cuts in the mail today.  I was planning on going to get my hair trimmed anyway, so I'm seeing this as a sign that I should go for the color too.  I've got to take a look at my calendar since I know I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow but can't remember when.  But if it looks like I'm going to have the time for it... I'm getting my hair dyed.  I still haven't decided on a color, but I'll be sure to have before and after pictures so those that are interested can see the changes.  (Which reminds me, I took the boys to get their haircuts today - and that was a big step all of it's own, since both of them love to run around the salon.  But their haircuts really do make them look different.  I need to get pics of them in the morning too.)

So... yep.  A lot of possibilities, plots, plans and ideas on my plate.  But that's ok, right?  Because I won't be able to go too crazy if I keep busy.  Or something like that.

Trying to get life back to normal

I'm looking forward to Friday.  Not because it's Friday, the beginning of the weekend.  But because I'll finally have a chance to return my life to normalcy. My husband went back to work on Monday.  My nephew (who has been here for two weeks to help out) will be going home.  My kids will be back in PDO and VBS will be over.  It's going to be me and my every day life.

I should really start my planning today, trying to figure out what things need to be a priority.  Because if I wait, it probably won't happen.  I'm a procrastinator galore.  It's part of my make-up.

But one of my priorities will be this blog again.  I need the outlet, and I need to MAKE it an outlet.  I mean, sure... I have my Facebook, but that's mostly for playing games.  And I have Twitter, but I don't pay nearly enough attention to it.  Then I recently started Google+, which will be a great way to keep up with some of my non-family friends and to maybe do a little venting.  But none of these options give a good long-form.  It doesn't give me the chance to be creative with my writing (though my gaming posts do - which is something else I'm hoping to get back to starting Friday).  So my blog will hopefully be at the top of the list.

Right now, though, the top of the list is waking up my nephew to help get the kids ready for PDO while I drink my coffee, change the laundry from washer to dryer and start a new load, and make the kids lunches.  Just another Wednesday morning.

Updates on Life, The Universe and Everything

Life is still continuing to get more and more frustrating.  Things (that I still can't talk about yet) are progressing in directions we'd rather not have them go and I'm just trying to hold on for dear life.  I'm still feeling a bit tossed and turned, but I'm slowly getting a better handle on things.  It's not perfect, but hey... what in life is?

I've realized recently just how much I've missed blogging.  I miss that interaction, that letting things out, that blogging gave me.  I don't know if I'm ready yet to come fully back from hiatus - I still have way too many things to get caught up with before I feel comfortable un-hiatusing (is that even a word?  Probably not), but I know that I have been missing it.  So I may do a bit more hit and miss posting rather than my regular features.  It'll be keeping my hand in.

We finally got our camera back a couple weeks ago (after it unceremoniously decided to take a swim in the washing machine).  I've been taking quite a few pictures lately because of it and I'm pretty proud of some of them.  It's funny, though.  We went from not having any cameras that we could lay our hands on having three. Yep.  Three.  We have the new one that took a swim and then was able to be fixed, the old one that decided to lay low in a seat pocket in the van, and Teddy's new camera that he won at the Easter Egg Hunt.  The only one that's been getting any use has been the Failed Swimmer, but I suspect the other two will be moved into rotation quickly.

I haven't been doing as well keeping up with SparkPeople as I'd like.  Heck, I haven't been as good about keeping up with ANYTHING as I'd like.  Though I am getting caught up on swaps, so that's one good thing.  I've really got to find a method that works for me.  I have my Weekly Chore calendar, and that helps with the chores but actually fitting everything into my schedule for the day... that's where things get rough.  I hate the thought of actually writing a schedule.  Especially since things get FUBARed on a regular basis when I make specific plans.  But I don't know what other choices I have.  If anyone has some great organizational ideas, I'm willing to listen!

I've been up visiting my Dad fairly regularly at the hospital.  He's doing fairly well, and for that, I'm glad.  He's on the rehab floor, which means they're doing everything in their power to get him back up and independent.  He still has some good days and some bad days, but that's to be expected in the early days.  I loaned him our netbook so he can get online while he's there.  He has an Android, but the smaller screen doesn't seem to be working as well for him.  The netbook is still small, but not nearly as small as his phone.  I keep wanting to do more for him, but I don't know what else I could do.  Daughter guilt, I guess.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a great day for me, according to Rich and the boys.  Teddy's been looking forward to Mother's Day for about a month, because he wants to spoil me a bit.  I love my boys!  From what I've been told, I'll be allowed to sleep in as late as I want.  I don't have to do anything if I don't want to.  I'll be having eggs benedict for breakfast (my favorite breakfast).  I'll be having bacon wrapped filets and bay scallops for dinner (which have been in our freezer for a bit, thanks to manager's specials at Kroger).  I'll get to watch Doctor Who and listen to The 39 Clues all day if I want.  It really is going to be my day.  And I'm kind of looking forward to it.  Because I'm going to let everything else go.  All the worries, all the fears, all the frustrations.  Just... poof.  For one day, I'm going to pretend that the world is shiny and bright rather than a little cloudy.

I've got a busy week ahead, but that's par for the course.  The day I'm looking forward to more than any other, though, is Friday.  Teddy will be graduating from PDO.  They've got a ceremony and we get to take pictures... and it's going to really sink in a little further that my baby is starting kindergarten in the fall.  I picked up a graduation card and a neat frame for him.  I'm planning on getting one of the pictures of him in his cap and gown printed and I'll put the frame up in his room.  I know he's pretty excited about it.  I think we all are.

I've got a couple more posts that I want to share tonight, so I'm off to get those posted.  Keep an eye out for Recent Geekery and Recent Photos, coming soon to a Sanity's Overrated near you.  (Though, honestly, it's almost midnight so I should be getting to bed.  But at least I can sleep in tomorrow!)

Hiatus

I need to take a hiatus from things for awhile.  This past month has just dumped bad news upon bad news on my head and I'm having a hard time dealing with all of it (as evidenced by my post last night).  I don't know how long my hiatus will be.  I'm hoping that it won't be for TOO long, but I can't say at the moment.  I just need to get a few things under control and then I'll be back. Thanks for understanding.

10 April 2011

Later, Later, Later

Yeah, so much for me getting a bunch of posts done this morning.  Instead, I spent time sprucing up my blog a bit more and adding more blogs to both my Google Reader and my blog roll.  I haven't even had a chance to read the (almost 450) new blog posts I have in FeedSquares.

I'm hoping to be able to get a few more things finished while Rich and the boys are at church, but no promises there.  I've got to make a run to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and me in Wal-Mart usually equals a lot of extra time spent.  However, Rich is tutoring this evening, so maybe I'll be lucky enough to get some things done then.  Or even after the boys go to bed, when I can work on the netbook while Rich is grading.

This is DEFINITELY a busy weekend!  But I can't complain.  Busy keeps the negatives away.

By the way, please let me know what you think of my new blog bits.  I left the background because a lot of people have commented on liking it.  I think the new badge and new banner go with it, but I'd like other opinions.

Time to drop the family off at church and go SHOP!

Things Didn't Go As Planned...

... but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I had all of these grand, wonderful plans tonight of replying to all of the wonderful comments I've gotten lately, post for my A to Z Challenge, letters G (for Guinness) and H (for... well, I haven't figured that one out yet), do Feel Good Friday and Swap-Bot Saturday, review the books that I've read, list all the fantastic books that I picked up at the library book sale and post about the fun that we've had today at all the book related events.  I also had in the back of my mind some changes I wanted to make in the blog.

Well, I got about 1/2 to 2/3 of the changes done.  I've finally gotten a blog button! (This is the picture over here, and the code is to the right, below the button and the Mom Pledge button.)  I created that and I MAY update my banner at the top to look something like this.  It definitely fits the Sanity's Overrated motif, if I do say so myself.

The other thing that I got done was my Blog Roll.  You can find it here, or under the "Blogs I Love" page above.  THAT is what took me the longest amount of time, because I wanted it all to look pretty and neat.  I did more HTML with this page than I've done in a good 10 to 12 years.  It felt good to remember things coming back to me, though.  And please, take a look at the blogs on my blog roll.  Every one of them is a blog that I enjoy reading regularly.  And there's a lot of great stuff there.

I'm hoping to update a lot of the Challenges, Memes and Other Regular Spots page (as found above) with a bunch of the regular things that my favorite blogs host or participate in on a weekly basis.  But as it's 12:30 am and I've got a busy day ahead, it's not happening tonight.  Tomorrow, if things go as planned.

There's still a lot to come tomorrow and over the next week.  I'll do as much as a can in the morning because from about 11:30 on, things get busy again.  But I'm really excited about a lot of the things that I'm trying to have happen here at Sanity's Overrated.

Thanks again to everyone for stopping by whenever you do.  It really does help me feel loved.

16 March 2011

I'm planning on posting more later, but I don't want to forget this now

Shivanee over at Novel Niche wrote a great post about rereads.  If you haven't been over to her site before, she does book reviews, but is a bit more regular about it than I am.  She reads a wider variety of books than I do and I love seeing what she's up to now.  Her post linked above, though, was absolutely fantastic.  Go check it out if you're curious about why people reread things.

14 March 2011

More to Come Later in the Day

For those that visit my blog (rather than reading it through an aggregate reader), you may notice a few things different.  I've added a couple of pages to the top.  One is the for the Blog Hop at BloggyMoms.com.  The other is a list of the regular features you'll find here on Sanity's Overrated.  The second will probably updated more often than the first, since I'm hoping to regularly be adding new things to my blog.  I'm hoping to add more pages over the next few days, hoping to make this a more interesting place to come.

At the moment, though, I'll be away from my blog.  It's time for Story Time at our local library, followed by lunch with a friend and then a trip to the store.  I'm hoping to work on a few things when I get back, including:

  • Memories Monday
  • 100 Pictures a Day, Day 2
  • Blog Dare
  • Book Reviews
  • A more in-depth post for The Mom Pledge
  • and maybe an about me page.

I'm also going to be working on my Swaps.  It's going to be a busy day for me, but that's the way I like it.

I'd also like the opinions of those who follow my blog regularly.  What do you like?  What don't you like?  What changes would you suggest?  I'm always open for constructive criticism.  Snarky or bitchy remarks, however, will be ignored and probably deleted.

Thanks for continuing to read!

Following New Swappers Blogs

I have been getting involved in a lot of swaps that involve following each other's blogs.  You've seen many of the ones that I've done in the past appear here.  The one I'm doing now is called Followers Please! and we have to follow, and are having follow us, 15 blogs.  Some of these, I've followed before in other swaps, but some are brand new to me.  Here are the blogs that I've been checking out this morning.

for 4 days... - Evey had noticed that she had a ton of great ideas, but not as much on the follow through.  She figures that she can do just about anything in 4 days and this is her way of documenting that.  She's already up to project 5 and I'm really impressed by the artwork that she does.  I wish I had half her talent and drive.

Studs and Pearls - Kirsten's blog is post after post of creativity.  She takes various finds, combines them with other finds and makes beautiful things out of it.  And, even better, she shows you how to do it yourself.  I don't know if I'd have the patience to do some of these things, but I love looking at them and wishing!

create. - I wonder how Lani has time to do it all!  From her blurb, she tells us that she's a mom of an active toddler (and boy, don't I know what that's like), a student of fashion design she works in a print shop and she does custom work on the side!  Her blog shows off some of the finds that she's made thrifting and going to estate sales, as well as some of her creation.  She's one talented lady!

fostered love forever - I truly admire Rachel.  She and her husband are foster parents in the Tampa Bay area and right now, they have 7 children in their home.  She blogs about ways she makes the kids feel special and the ways they make her feel special.  So many of these kids, it seems, had a hard time trusting but Rachel gains their trust.  Rachel is truly a remarkable woman doing a remarkable thing.

Steve and his Girls - Brandy is a stay at home mom of two girls and she's blogging life in her family.  She has tons of pictures of (primarily) her girls, which are so incredibly adorable!  I haven't had a chance to get into her blog fully yet, but I suspect we'll find quite a few things in common once I do.

Cupcakes and Corsets - The Fancy Lady is a former artist who has moved from fashion to food.  She says that she hopes to get to do both one day, but in looking at her cookies on her blog, she really does seem to do so already.  They make me hungry just looking at them!  Along with the cookies (which are for sale in her etsy shop), she also posts some of her day to day stuff.  She's got a beautiful picture of the roses that she got from her boyfriend for Valentine's Day.  So sweet!!!!

Adventures with the Nowling Family - Carrie posts a lot about her every day life, which is something I always enjoy reading.  She's very happily married and has three adorable girls.  Along with her every day posts, she posts menus for the week and reviews books as she's reading them.  And she's got a fantastic picture of her husband and two of her girls as her header picture.  It's really cute!  She also has a playlist of music off to the side, so if you're in a place where you don't want sound to give you away, make sure you turn off your sound first!

Ichigo Shortcake - Mimi's blog is full of cute!  She loves Kawaii and love things pink.  She posts a lot of pictures of things that she's working on or things that catch her fancy.  I'm not really into Kawaii myself, but I can definitely see the cute factor based on the pictures she's posting.  Like Carrie's blog, Mimi also has music playing, so be wary if you're checking from somewhere that you don't want music coming on.

Made By Knowme - Naomi's blog is in a combination of Dutch and English.  (The Dutch isn't as much of a problem for me because I use Chrome and love the translate feature. :))  She just recently got back to blogging after the birth of her son (which, as I know well, can be VERY time consuming!)  She posts pictures of the art that she creates, which is incredibly beautiful.  She recently finished a Tink amigurumi that is absolutely fantastic.  I might need to send the picture to my niece, the Tink fan.  I can't wait to see what else she posts!

Unionvale Mom's Spot - Cariann and I have quite a bit in common - we're both moms to two (usually) wonderful boys who love to read, write and spend time with the family.  I've followed Cariann for awhile because of one of the other blog swaps that we did together, and her blog is still fantastic to read.  She posts a bit of everything, though there's been a lot of swapping stuff lately.  She's incredibly talented and she's a great one to read!

HAVFAITH - Tammy's blog is another one that I've been following for awhile.  She does a lot of challenges and themed days.  If I'm not mistaken, her blog was one of the ones that gave me the idea to do my own themed days (which I promise I'll get back to soon).  Through the challenges and her pictures, you learn a lot about Tammy.  And that is a wonderful thing to do!

Bits N Pieces - Aubrey is a great bunch of wonderful.  I read her info and thought "My kind of lady!"  I'm not nearly as artistic as she is (her ATCs are absolutely amazing!), but I love looking at her art.  And that's primarily what her blog is - the various art pieces that she's put together.  She's got a very creative mind and I think I'm going to keep looking and drooling for a long time.

Back Porchervations - I found KentuckyGal's blog previously because she started following me.  And I'm so glad that I did!  She introduced me to Bloggy Moms and the Blog Dare, which I'm hoping to make a regular feature here.  A lot of what she does is answering blog prompts from various locations, but it opens up her life to her readers to let us know a lot more about her.  Definitely a great one to check out!

50 Interviews - This is more of a website than a blog.  Brian talks a bit about the books on this site, books that have interviews by the author of each book of people involved and influential in the subject matter at hand.  It looks like interesting reads.  It's not a Blogger Blog, but I did like it on Facebook.

The Happiest Princess - Christin is a beautiful artist.  She shares not only pictures of her own artwork but that of people that she admires.  She also talks a bit about her day to day life and lets you know about some giveaways that might catch your attention.  I look forward to seeing more of her posts.

And that's all 15 of them!  I hope you find some favorites among these reads.  I know that I have!

Reasons for not being around

Yes, I've still been reading.  Yes, I've still been wanting to update this blog.  But life has been handing me several curve balls this week that I'm not managing to hit.  Along with several doctor's appointments that have kept me away from the keyboard, I've been dealing with several stresses AND a computer that has decided that it doesn't like to be powered at all... neither by battery or by power cord.  Of course, this is the computer that all of my files are on, as well as all of my pictures and everything else important that I've done online in the last year or so. So.

I'm probably going to have Sanity's Overrated on a small hiatus until my income tax comes in and I can get/build a new desktop.  Yes, we're going back to the desktop.  I'm sure that the kids being near by, pulling the cord from the computer as they try to get at something they aren't supposed to have is some of the reason the laptop refuses to function. Can you tell I'm really miffed by this?  Yeah, I thought you could.  And in case you're wondering how I can be typing this at 2300, we DO have a back-up computer, but it's the one with a cracked screen, which happens to be hooked up to the television.  I've got to sit on the floor to use it and it's not the most comfortable of positions.

The hiatus will hopefully only last for a week or two.  It just depends on when my last W2 comes in.  I'm going to try to get on at the library a couple times a week to keep up with my swaps and the like, as well as occasionally checking through Back Up.  Just... wish me luck.  I feel I'm going to need it.

19 January 2011

Wacky Wednesday - Maybe a change?

When I came up with Wacky Wednesday, it was more the alteration that struck me.  And now I'm having a hard time coming up with something particularly wacky right now.  And honestly, I don't know if enough wacky comes across my desk for me to make it a regular feature.  So.... I'm opening my Wednesday regular posting up to suggestions.  What should I post about on Wednesdays?  Should I be a bit wicked?  Should I be weird?  Should I use Wednesdays (and only Wednesdays) for whinging?  Should I talk about work-outs?

Give me your best W-word Wednesday suggestions.  And maybe your suggestion will be featured here for weeks to come.

Hopeful Changes to Sanity's Overrated

I've been wanting to find ways to write here more often.  I know that a lot of people enjoy my book reviews (and yes, I know I've got several of those that are due), but I wanted to write something more than that.  To that end, starting tomorrow, I'm planning on having a daily theme for me to write about.  They may morph over time, depending on how well they go.  But here are the themes I'm hoping to incorporate:

Memories Mondays - Lately, I've been thinking a lot about different aspects of my past and having different memories come to mind.  So on Mondays, I'm going to write about a different memory each week.  Hopefully it will help my readers get to know me a little better.

To Do Tuesdays - I'll be writing about some of the things I'm planning on accomplishing for the next week.

Wacky Wednesdays - Anything crazy, silly or intended to make you laugh.  It could be something I saw online or something my boys have done, but it will be wacky.

Thoughtful Thursdays - I'll be musing on a subject of my choosing.  It might be a newsworthy article, it might be something I'm studying up on, it might be a hot button issue.  Who knows.  But it will be something I'll put a lot of thought into.

Feel Good Fridays - It could be an uplifting story, a little note to make you feel good, or a cute picture.  But it will be something to help my readers and myself feel a bit better about themselves before the weekend.

Swap-Bot Saturday - A review of the swaps that I've worked on the previous week, as well as the swaps I have due in the upcoming week.

Silent Sundays - Pictures posted without comment.

These aren't the only things I'm hoping to write about.  I still want to do my book reviews, and I still want to talk about my family.  And I'm hoping to do other challenges and the like.  I want this to be a place where people enjoy coming to and where people like reading what I have to say.  (And I'm hoping for more comments as well.)

If you have any ideas on how to make Sanity's Overrated a better place, please let me know.  I always like hearing from my readers!

Ten Day Challenge, Day 1

1. 10 Things You Want to Say to 10 Different People

There are so many people that I want to say so many things to.  So I'm going to write the first things that come to mind.

1. I'm so glad that, after almost 20 years, we've found each other again.  And that our friendship hasn't suffered. You've been so supportive in so many things.  I'm so lucky to have you in my life.
2. When I first met you, I didn't realize how important you would become to me.  I'm so glad for that day in Penn Station... and for you taking a chance.
3. I know we're having a tough time together sometimes, but I'm really proud of you.  You're growing into such a smart, courteous little boy.  And I love you for it.
4. You continue to amaze me every day.  You speak more, you understand more and you're becoming your own person.  What can't you do?
5. I'm glad I was able to be there for you when I needed it most.
6. We need to get together some time soon.  I miss hanging out, getting together for lunch and just talking.  Besides, I need to meet D.
7. You are brilliant.  I know you doubt yourself regularly, but you really are a brilliant man.  You've got such a wonderful imagination, which is one of many reasons that I will play anything that you will run.
8. I love you, heart-sister.  I wish we still lived close enough together to see each other semi-regularly.
9. I miss writing with you.  Some of my best scenes were written with you at Tazlure.
10. I'm the luckiest daughter in the world.  You've been there when I needed you and you've supported me even when you were convinced I was making a mistake.  I want to be there for you like you've been for me. I love you.

10 Day Blog Challenge - The topics

I snagged this from Haley over at Hanging off the Wire.  And since I'm trying to update my blog more regularly, I thought "Why not?"  Plus, it will give my readers a chance to get to know me more.  If you're interested in doing it yourself, please let me know.  I'd love to see what your answers would be.

Day 1: 10 things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day 2: 9 things about yourself.
Day 3: 8 ways to win your heart.
Day 4: 7 things that cross your mind a lot.
Day 5: 6 things you wish you’d never done.
Day 6: 5 people who mean a lot to you (in no order whatsoever).
Day 7: 4 things that turn you off.
Day 8: 3 things that turn you on.
Day 9: 2 smileys that describe your life right now.
Day 10: 1 confession.
